Acoustic and vibration measurement resources

The 6NAPSE Group has multiple test means allowing the measurement and the vibration and acoustic characterization of elements whose size can range from a few microns (electronic board wires) to several meters (complete automobile, wagon, vehicles military…).

From fault detection to solution definition

Accelerometers and vibrometers

Thanks to a large number of accelerometers whose sensitivities are capable of measuring the lowest vibration levels up to supporting large amplitudes, it is possible to characterize the vibration signature of products at multiple points and in a single acquisition (gain time, limited number of runs).

Since these same accelerometers are of low mass and have a bandwidth of up to 10,000 Hz, it is possible to determine the high-frequency vibration behavior of a structure by limiting the added mass.

In addition, in the case of products of size and mass smaller than those of accelerometers, the CEVAA has two Doppler shift laser vibrometers allowing them to be finely characterized and without any added mass.

Shakers and impact hammers

Modal vibrators and impact hammers also make it possible to excite structures over a frequency range extending from a few Hz to several tens of thousands of Hz in order to detect their resonance modes.
Decoupled marbles as well as hoists and rubber bands capable of supporting several tons allow these measurements to be carried out in embedded or free-free conditions.

Acoustic measurement means

The CEVAA also has a semi-anechoic chamber equipped with a chassis dynamometer in which acoustic measurements with microphones, whose measurement range extends up to 20 kHz, can be carried out under “free field” conditions (no wave reflections due to the room).

These same microphones can also be used for the characterization of parasitic noises (squeak and rattle) of a product subjected to vibratory excitation when the latter is placed on a vibrator.

Impedance tubes with an internal section ranging from 29mm to 100mm make it possible to carry out material characterization in absorption and transmission over a frequency range extending from [50 to 6300 Hz]. One of them, with a 44mm section being coupled to a climatic chamber, has the possibility of carrying out these characterizations by taking into account the temperature dependencies.

A small cabin, equipped with a part of boomers and tweeters on the one hand, and an anechoic termination in which four microphones are located, has the advantage of determining the insertion loss of a part (acoustic leaks).
