Corrosion analysis

expertise corrosion

Our laboratories carry out corrosion analysis: expertise, identification of its origin and accelerated aging tests to check the behavior of your materials over time.

What is a corrosion phenomenon?

Corrosion refers to the chemical alteration of a material by its environment. It concerns all types of materials, but mainly metals and metal alloys. In addition, corrosion can combine with mechanical effects to give rise to stress corrosion and fatigue-corrosion. Similarly, it can create surface wear, the causes of which are both physicochemical and mechanical.

Corrosion phenomena impact the products, their characteristics and their durability. This is why its understanding represents a major challenge for the industry.

Corrosion analysis and expertise

Our laboratories carry out expertise on corrosion and the resistance over time of metallic materials. Apart from the consequences on the reliability of the product, corrosion can also create health or environmental safety issues.

Our laboratory analyzes the premature failure of materials caused by corrosion. Then, he identifies the causes of the degradation of the material, whether environmental or related to the intrinsic characteristics of the product. Thus, the 6NAPSE Group provides answers to your problems and offers solutions adapted to your activity.

Using our means, on the surface or in the heart of the materials, we determine the nature of the corrosion (pitting, crevice, stress corrosion, fatigue-corrosion, galvanic, selective, intergranular, bacterial corrosion, erosion corrosion, cavitation , fretting corrosion and high temperature corrosion) and the possible causes and origins (chemical, electrochemical or high temperature).

Tests in corrosive environment on materials

We are able to carry out corrosion resistance tests in our salt spray chambers (cycled or not) and to determine the physico-chemical characteristics of water and corrosive products in relation to the damage or defect.

Corrosion origins

  • Perforation of brazed copper tubes (on sanitary facilities, in a kitchen, etc.)
  • Breakage of valves or flexible brass fittings, fasteners (screws, nuts, etc.)
  • Corrosion of stainless steel equipment (pipes, barriers, furniture, etc.)
  • Degradation of aluminum heat exchanger (breakage, corrosion, etc.)
  • Leak on a galvanized steel tube on a boiler system
  • Corrosion on galvanized gutters for agricultural buildings or boiler piping
  • Corrosion of a plastics tool mold

6NAPSE Group assets

  • All the controls, tests and analyzes of our laboratories are carried out in compliance with the quality criteria of our industrial customers.
  • Short standard deadlines and possibilities of urgent care
