X-ray fluorescence analysis

analyse semi quantitative par fluorescence x

The 6NAPSE Group performs semi-quantitative analysis of metallic materials by X-ray fluorescence. Our laboratory thus performs non-destructive testing of metals.

Semi-quantitative chemical analysis by X-ray fluorescence

The 6NAPSE Group quickly and accurately performs elemental analysis of metal samples.

The laboratory measures the elemental concentrations of a metal sample: Low alloy steels, Cr-Mo steels, Tool steels, Stainless steel, Specialty alloys, Nickel alloys, Zirconium alloys, Brasses, Bronzes, Cobalt alloys, Alloys of Zinc 3, Aluminum alloys, Titanium alloys, Exotic alloys.

Our laboratory has a portable X-ray fluorescence analysis gun. It allows semi-quantitative chemical analyzes by energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF).

This technical means by non-destructive testing (NDT) allows the measurement of the mass percentages (elemental concentration) of the chemical elements present in the sample analyzed.

It is also possible to observe the composition of a deposit or coating by carrying out surface analyzes of the sample.

Advantages

  • Fast and accurate results
  • On-site intervention
  • Non-destructive testing
  • Analysis of all types of metallic materials

Applications

  • Identification of metallic alloys (calibration range 37 elements, including light elements like Mg, Al & Si – elementary range Mg-U)
  • Verification of raw materials
  • Production control and quality control (PMI (positive material identification)).

Technical characteristics

  • Equipment : S1 TITAN 600
Portable analyzer using energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) technology and equipped with an X-ray tube as the excitation source
  • Standards : UNS, DIN, STANDARD

Database

Databases meeting the various international standards (UNS, DIN, STANDARD) and grouping several alloy classifications are incorporated into the program of the device, allowing it to name the most probable grade of the sample analyzed:

  • Aluminum alloys
  • Magnesium alloys
  • Titanium alloys
  • Low alloy steels
  • Tool steels
  • Stainless steels
  • Cobalt alloys
  • Nickel alloys
  • Copper alloys
  • Zinc alloys

On-site intervention

We use it in our laboratory and on customer site during material control, technical expertise or during technical assistance intervention. Can be in addition to portable hardness and our skills to assist you on your production or R&D projects, the portable X-ray fluorescence analyzer allows precise information on the material.

Note: we travel nationally to carry out measurements by Fluorescence X, on parts in production, which cannot be moved, following a dispute, etc.

Equipment principle

The sample is excited by a source of X-rays, to respond to this excitation the atom sends back X-rays whose energy is specific to each chemical element. A detector incorporated into the device collects these X-rays and their energy to obtain the list of elements present and their mass concentration.
