Acoustic testing
The 6NAPSE Group carries out acoustic testing to quantify the sound level, insulation or acoustic absorption of a product. We also carry out acoustic attenuation measurements.
In order to guarantee acoustic comfort and durability of parts, industry must verify the acoustic performance of its materials. Automotive, construction and even household appliances therefore call on specialists to check whether their part is noise-tight and meets the desired criteria. The goal is therefore to check whether it insulates and/or absorbs noise well.
Acoustic tests are therefore carried out as part of the validation of a new product or following the observation of a problem in order to improve a product already on the market (eg a vehicle).
Acoustic testing on test benches
The 6NAPSE Group conducts acoustic tests on all parts according to customer procedures.
The teams determine the noise insulation from the sound pressure levels. Also known as insertion loss. For this, the product is placed in the Small Cabin on an interface itself placed between two boxes (transmission box which simulates the engine compartment and reception box which simulates the passenger compartment).
The test center calculates the absorption coefficient from the reverberation times measured on a room in Cabin Alpha using the Sabine formula. The 6NAPSE Group also uses the impedance tube to measure absorption and TL (Transmission Loss / attenuation index). Thus, we determine the ability or not of the product to absorb noise or transmit it.
We also carry out acoustic attenuation measurements in an acoustically treated box with an initial impact test and a test combining friction and beating.
Acoustic tests in a semi-anechoic chamber
The tests carried out in a semi-anechoic chamber make it possible to be placed in a free-field condition and therefore to overcome sound waves reflected by obstacles thanks to the treatment of the walls of the room.
