IEC 61373 Testing
Railway Qualification

essais norme ferroviaire IEC 61373 / CEI 61373 EN

The 6NAPSE Group carries out qualification tests for the railway industry according to the international standard IEC 61373 / CEI 61373.

The international standard IEC 61373 (also called IEC 61373 or NF EN 61373) certifies the conformity of equipment related to the railway industry and railway rolling stock. It guarantees resistance to shocks, jolts and vibrations.

Indeed, railway equipment must be validated, whether brakes, batteries, axles, etc. The standard covers the random vibration and shock test requirements for mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and electronic equipment/components intended to be fitted to railway vehicles.

The standard has three categories that represent the future location of the part on the train structure: Parts 1A, 1B or 2.

  • Category 1: Crate mounting
    • Class A: trunks, sub-assemblies, materials and components fixed directly on or under the body of the vehicle.
    • Class B: any element fixed inside a box of equipment itself fixed directly on or under the body of the vehicle.
  • Category 2: Bogie mounting
Boxes, sub-assemblies, materials and components which must be fixed to the bogie of a railway vehicle.
  • Category 3: Axle Mount
Sub-assemblies, materials and components or assemblies which must be fixed to the axle of a railway vehicle.

The 6NAPSE Group performs shock and shaking resistance tests:

  • Functional vibration (low level / actual vibration)
  • Vibration endurance (aggravated signals to fatigue the part)
  • Shocks

These three types of trials have different levels of acceleration depending on the level chosen.

Our laboratory carries out the entire range of tests on dimensions up to 3m and masses up to 2 tons.

6NAPSE Group assets

  • Possibility of testing on large parts
  • Complete validation plan (support for all tests of a standard)
