ISTA 1A Testing
Our testing laboratory carries out ISTA 1A tests to simulate the transport of packages weighing less than 68kg (150 lb).
What is ISTA 1A ?
The ISTA 1A test procedure, defined by the International Safe Transit Association (ISTA), is a standardized protocol for testing packaged products weighing less than 68 kg (150 lbs) as they are prepared for shipment. This test is designed to evaluate the performance and integrity of the packaging and the product it contains.
ISTA 1A testing by 6NAPSE
6NAPSE Group is an “ISTA certified Testing Laboratory”. Our testing laboratory performs ISTA 1A tests to ensure the integrity of the packaged products. Our tests apply to the “packaging – product” package. These are indeed considered collectively and not in isolation in this process.
The test is performed in a specific order. The sequence begins with:
- Atmospheric (ambient) pre-conditioning
- Fixed displacement vibration test: 25mm peak-to-peak at a frequency to be determined.
- Shock test: inclined and horizontal impact tests, where the impact speed and/or drop height vary according to the weight of the packaged product.
However, the procedure may not cover certain transport conditions such as humidity, pressure or unusual handling, which suggests that other ISTA test procedures may be necessary to meet different conditions or objectives.
