Thermomechanical simulation

calcul thermomécanique simulation

The 6NAPSE Group carries out thermomechanical simulation to simulate temperature variations and their impact on the behavior of materials.

When a system is subjected to significant temperature changes (heating or cooling), significant levels of stress can be generated. These constraints concern all types of products, from the exhaust of a vehicle, to the design of a luxury jewel. The presence of embedding points or connections between different materials can thus cause cracking or even breakage.

Thermomechanical simulation by our engineers

In order to guarantee good control of materials and anticipation of failures, the 6NAPSE Group carries out thermomechanical simulation. Thus, our engineers simulate thermal propagation in a system, then deduce the mechanical behavior by calculating deformation and stresses.

More concretely, our modeling teams retrieve the CAD of a part and integrate its thermal characteristics (thermal conductivity of a material, specific heat capacity and coefficient of thermal expansion). Then, with our calculation software, we simulate the thermal propagation in the product by applying the thermal loads representative of the environment. Once the state has stabilized, we identify the thermal field generated and then estimate the deformation of the product which will create stresses and lead to breakage.

The 6NAPSE Group simulates all possible temperature ranges.

Additionally, we can virtually test different designs to determine which ones will behave more reliably than others.

Finally, with our fire resistance simulations, we support the design of fire-resistant products by modeling them in a fire situation to validate compliance with the standards in force.
