Particle size analysis

As part of quality control, manufacturers seek to verify the size of the grains in the powder. Indeed, during the development of new raw materials, it is necessary to ensure that the grains can be used in the manufacturing processes and correspond to the expected dimensions of the powder.
In addition, knowledge of the morphology and sizing of parts, surface layers, paints or even granules is essential for controlling an industrial process. It is therefore important to know or control these different parameters in order to validate the methods and processes.
Particle size analysis in the laboratory
Particle size is the study of the size distribution of particles present in dry samples (powders, flours, sands, etc.) or liquids (syrups, emulsions, suspensions, etc.)
The 6NAPSE Group laboratory performs particle size analysis. It thus measures the size of the grains within a powder according to their characteristics (volume, etc.).
Laser diffraction granulometry uses the principle of diffraction and scattering of a laser beam striking a particle in a liquid or dry process. Each particle diffracts light at an angle that depends on its size. The diffracted light is collected by a multi-element detector. The result is shown as a semi-logarithmic curve (according to ISO 13320 criteria).
