Silicone analysis laboratory

analyse silicone

The 6NAPSE Group supports manufacturers in the analysis and characterization of silicone, in all its forms (liquid or solid).

Silicone characteristics

Also called polysiloxane, silicone is a purely synthetic inorganic component, obtained from silicon, a product derived from quartz and oxygen.

Silicone comes in different forms: liquid silicone (breast implant), gel, gum and it is also found in very solid form, such as hard plastic. It is used in all areas: industry, automotive, cosmetics, medical, pharmaceutical, etc.

Silicone analysis and expertise

Thanks to our experience, our laboratories and our skills, the 6NAPSE Group supports manufacturers in the precise analysis and characterization of silicone-based products:

  • Chemical composition analysis: study of the chemical characteristics of a silicone
  • Analysis of surface coatings: characterization of silicone coatings (DSC, IRTF, surface topography, microscopic observation, thickness measurement, colorimetry, gloss, etc.)
  • Failure expertise: analysis of certain defects on silicones (discoloration, wear, degradation, etc.)
  • Analysis of elementary impurities by looking for impurities on oils or silicone fluids.
  • Study of silicone aging (salt spray, climatic chamber, photo-aging, filiform corrosion, etc.)
  • Measurement of the thermal characteristics by carrying out hot-cold-humidity thermal tests in order to qualify or control the evolution of the silicone.

Silicone thus has a wide range of applications, as well as outstanding characteristics:

  • Temperature resistance, thanks to its resistance to high or extremely low temperatures, silicone retains almost all of its chemical, mechanical and dielectric properties at these temperatures.
  • Chemical resistance this characteristic allows silicones to be combined with oils and other chemical substances.
  • Resistance to wear and weather conditions, silicones are extremely resistant to oxygen, UV rays and bad weather
  • Electrical insulation
  • Non-toxic substance thanks to its particular chemical structure which gives it an absence of taste, odor, as well as anti-adherence

Applications

  • Expertise of blistering on a metallized plastic part: overall visualization of the surface condition of a non-compliant part, detailed visualization of the surface condition (plastic part) after peeling.
  • Hardness measurement of multi-layer plastic films
  • Analysis of plastic coating on finished product
  • Analysis of elemental impurities presented on the surface of silicone materials

6NAPSE Group assets

  • Complete validation plan (support for all tests of a standard)
  • All the controls, tests and analyzes of our laboratories are carried out in compliance with the quality criteria of our industrial customers
  • Short standard deadlines and possibilities of urgent care
