Energy storage module charge/discharge bench
In order to support manufacturers to increase their competitiveness, the 6NAPSE Group offers, through services, innovative reliability solutions on embedded electronic systems.
Experiment and solve the reliability issues of new battery technologies, supercapacitors…
Embedded electronic systems
Today’s market presents several new battery technologies. Depending on the areas of use, they are made up of:
- Nickel based (NiCd, NiMH, NiZn)
- Li-Ion (LCO, LMO, NMC, LFP…)
- Supercapacitor..
They all have advantages and disadvantages. The 6NAPSE Group offers services around electronic reliability that can provide answers on:
- The relative effects of aging energy storage modules that can lead to security risks.
- The refinement of aging calculations by experimentation in real conditions of use.
- Provide better knowledge of the behavior of different technologies according to the demands and conditions of use.
- Facilitate preventive maintenance…
With the aim of carrying out aging tests on energy storage modules, the 6NAPSE Group has made available a bench that can age new generations of batteries, supercapacitors, etc.
Applications
- Charge/discharge test
- Balance control test
- DCIR Test (Direct Current Internal Resistance)
- Capacitance test
- Performance Test…
The energy storage module charge and discharge bench is sized for new battery technologies. It provides services in several areas:
- Automotive;
- Railway;
- Power module
The 6NAPSE Group, through its skills and technical means, designs offers adapted to your needs in order to support you in your upstream development phase, from the identification to the resolution of problems on elements in series life.
Bench composition
It consists of three independent test channels. As a result, 3 energy storage modules can be tested in parallel under different conditions in order to better dissociate the degradation phenomena.
Each channel is made up of 3 subsets:
- A 2-quadrant power supply (7800W, 65V-120A) built around a linear stage combining high precision and high dynamics. It generates almost no electrical pollution, therefore it can be used in an anechoic chamber. The source can be configured as a current or voltage source. It is as fast in the rise phase as in the fall phase, which ensures perfect monitoring of the programmed current both in generation and in absorption. The passage from the “generation” quadrant to the “absorption” quadrant is automatic depending on the direction of the current requested. The power supply is remote controllable with TCP/IP or SCPI protocols.
- A climatic chamber to ensure thermal regulation identical to the operational environment.
- A block of acquisition, control and recording modules is connected to the 2-quadrant power supply, to the climatic chamber and to the energy storage modules in order to generate the charge and discharge profiles imposed by the specifications. charges.
The DUT (Device under Test) is linked by its interface to a controller providing communication with the test bench. Through this connection, a reading and recovery of information (voltage, current, temperature, etc.) from the cells is carried out. It also allows the monitoring of parameters such as the minimum or maximum voltage threshold of the DUT not to be exceeded. The current source setpoint describes a waveform from the customer specification. The voltage threshold cancels/modifies the current sent to the module as soon as it is charged or discharged.
The energy storage module charge/discharge bench manages the entire test autonomously. The test chronogram, the measurements of voltages, currents, temperature, balancing (in the case of a system of several storage cells) are produced and stored for the entire duration of the test. The modularity of the bench makes it possible to adapt the equipment according to the need and to technological developments.
