ECE R100 Testing
Electric battery qualification

essais ece r100 ISO 12405 batterie électrique

The 6NAPSE Group carries out ECE R100 tests (Rev2 and Rev3) for the qualification of lithium batteries for electric vehicles.

The ECE R100 Rev3 / UNR100 certification is one of the main European requirements for type approval of electric road vehicles.

To guarantee the safety of lithium batteries, abusive and safety tests are necessary to reproduce the constraints of vehicle use: vibrations, impact, thermal constraints or even fire.

ECE R100, certification tests for electric vehicle batteries

The 6NAPSE Group carries out tests for manufacturers of lithium batteries for electric vehicles and industrial machinery. To obtain the ECE R100 Rev2 certification, the battery packs are subjected to a series of 9 tests (in its appendix 8 (8A to 8I)), during which the batteries are abused and voluntarily pushed to their limits in order to check their resistance.

  • ECE R100 – Annex 9A: Vibration tests
  • ECE R100 – Annex 9B: Thermal shock and thermal cycling test
  • ECE R100 – Annex 9C: Mechanical shock
  • ECE R100 – Annex 9D: Mechanical integrity
  • ECE R100 – Annex 9E: Fire resistance
  • ECE R100 – Annex 9F: Protection against external short circuits
  • ECE R100 – Annex 9G: Overload protection
  • ECE R100 – Annex 9H: Over-discharge protection
  • ECE R100 – Annex 9I: Protection against overheating
  • ECE R100 – Annex 9J: Overcurrent Protection

The abusive R100 tests of the 6NAPSE Group are a support for the certification of electric batteries. In addition, we also carry out transport tests of batteries according to UN38.3.

The 6NAPSE Group carries out the 9A and 9B tests and can pilot the production of 9C to 9J via partners.

Our electric battery tests

The 6NAPSE Group carries out the validation of electric batteries according to your needs:

  • Vibration testing: assessment of the ability of electrical energy storage to withstand vibrations that would occur in the living environment or during transport
  • Mechanical testing: determination of the resistance to mechanical shocks that may occur in the use of the equipment
  • Altitude testing: simulation of pressure variations in air transport
  • Impact testing: impact resistance of a material, component, part or packaging during transport
  • Drop test: evaluation of the resistance to falls that may occur during installation in the switchgear
  • Salt spray corrosion testing: characterization of the resistance of electrical energy storage under salt spray conditions (cycled BS possible)
  • Thermal shock testing: identification of the assembly’s ability to withstand rapid temperature variations
  • IP sealing tests: verification of sealing according to the protection index (IPXX)
  • Chemical resistance testing
  • Chemical analysis and elemental determination of lithium
  • Tailor-made tests according to your protocol
