Condensation testing

essais condensation humidité

The 6NAPSE Group carries out condensation testing and reproduces the phenomena of humid atmosphere likely to cause premature aging of the material.

A humid atmosphere (rainy weather, morning dew, humidity) can generate accelerated aging of the material. Indeed, a phenomenon of premature corrosion can appear on the product and the coatings.

All industries that manufacture metal parts/metals or design surface coatings (paints) are covered: aeronautics, aerospace, paint applicators, surface coating manufacturers, military, automotive, etc.

Condensation testing

In order to guarantee the durability of the product or coating, the 6NAPSE Group recreates humidity conditions with its condensation tests.

Thus, the condensation enclosure simulates the effects of attacks by external humidity. The atmosphere of the test bench is saturated with humidity, water is deposited by micro-droplets and runoff, then condensation appears on the samples. The testing bench accelerates aging and replicates damage that occurs after months or years outdoors.

The 6NAPSE Group test chamber offers both water condensation tests and salt spray tests.

Tests can be conducted according to ISO 6270-2: Paints and varnishes — Determination of resistance to humidity — Part 2: Condensation (exposure in enclosure with heated water tank). DO-160 and MIL-STD standards also recommend humidity and water condensation tests.

Characteristics of the test enclosure

  • Volume: 600cm3
  • Enclosure dimensions: 1100x1000x800mm
  • Mass: 850kg max.

Application cases

  • Validation of cable car surface coating
  • Condensation resistance test on paints or varnishes
