Thermal shock testing

essais chocs thermiques température

The 6NAPSE Group carries out thermal shock testing to check the resistance of materials and their behavior in an environment subject to rapid temperature changes.

Temperature and humidity have an influence on the life of a material or product. Thus, the choice of suitable materials is essential according to the environmental conditions of the products.

As part of qualification and validation, thermal shock tests highlight the behavior of the product and possible failures: deformation of parts or elements, mechanical or electrical defects following the appearance of frost or water, cracks or wear. on the product, insulation defects, changes in properties, etc.

What materials are subject to thermal shock?

These tests concern all types of materials: polymers, elastomers, surface coatings, etc.
They work for all types of industries: automotive, military, aerospace, aeronautics, batteries, etc.

Thermal shock testing

The 6NAPSE Group carries out climatic thermal shock tests. In the laboratory, we vary the temperature of a product ultra-rapidly so as to reveal any defects. The thermal shock test thus consists of the alternating passage of the product from a cold tank to a hot tank.

The tests are carried out in the laboratory according to the specifications and the standards in force.

The test center carries out two types of thermal shock tests.

  1. First of all, the air-water thermal shock consists in steaming a part at a certain temperature (ex: hot 120°C) and spraying it with cold water (ex: 3°C).
  2. Next, the air-air thermal shock comprises a dual-compartment thermal enclosure. One chamber is at hot temperature, and the other at cold temperature and with a platform, we come to make a temperature transition of less than 10 seconds.
