Tensile testing

essais de résistance mécanique sur produit, traction, compression, flexion

The 6NAPSE Group guarantees the tensile strength capacity of a part or assembly through laboratory tests.

Some objects or products must be able to support loads, weights and other types of efforts. Thus, a minimum level of strength and resistance to stress is required. To measure this mechanical resistance capacity, the 6NAPSE Group offers tensile tests.

Tensile testing

A tensile test is a physical and mechanical testing method. It gives the mechanical characteristics of a material: elastic behavior, plastic behavior and breaking strength.

Among its mechanical durability tests (fatigue, endurance), the 6NAPSE Group offers tensile tests.

Furthermore, like any mechanical test, the tensile test reproduces a simple stress, to simulate the forces and stresses in real conditions.

The obtained values are going to be essential for the following axes:

  • Quality Control
  • Basis of calculation and dimensioning of elements under stress
  • Characterization of the transformation behavior of materials
  • Choice of materials (comparison of characteristics)

Tensile testing gives several important values:

  • Young’s modulus
  • Elasticity limit
  • Tensile strength / ultimate limit
  • Elongation at break
  • Poisson coefficient
