Torsion testing

essais de torsion mécanique

The 6NAPSE Group carries out torsion testing and measures the mechanical resistance of materials in the laboratory.

Torsion testing

The torsion test consists of applying a force at an angle or with several cylinders at the same time. This accumulation of damage forces makes it possible to check whether degradations appear on the tested system. The torsion test of a material makes it possible to determine the flexibility, the resistance to torsion and the breaking strength of the material.

Torsion testing is usually conducted on metals or metallic materials. Manufacturers are also testing other materials liable to undergo deformation, such as polymers or plastic materials.

The 6NAPSE Group is also able to conduct bending tests on all types of parts or materials.

The 6NAPSE Group conducts other Mechanical Reliability Tests: compression tests, tensile tests and rotation tests.

Applications

  • Validation of automotive trunk hinges
  • Qualification of front or rear suspension arms on a car (endurance and stiffness tests which will lead to torsion of the arms)
  • Endurance tests according to the Locati+ method
  • Exceptional force application tests, positive and negative
  • Destructive tests, carried out on parts resulting from exceptional tests

Any part/system subject to repeated mechanical stress.

From the single part to the complete system.
