Titanium and titanium-based alloys analysis Laboratory
The 6NAPSE Group carries out the analysis of titanium and titanium-based alloys. The laboratory also conducts metallurgical expertise and material failure studies.
Characteristics of titanium and its alloys
Titanium is a light, strong metal, with a metallic white appearance, which resists corrosion. It is mainly used in light and resistant alloys. In addition, TA6V (Titanium Grade 5) represents 50% of titanium alloys used worldwide.
Its intrinsic properties make titanium a material widely used in industry. Indeed, titanium has a high resistance to corrosion, biocompatibility (resistance to bodily fluids) and very good fire resistance. Finally, its mechanical characteristics (strength, ductility, fatigue, etc.) facilitate the shaping of thin and light parts.
The industrial fields of aeronautics and aerospace are the first users of titanium. Today, it constitutes 6 to 9% of the weight of aircraft. In second place is the chemical industry (condensers, reactors in refineries, paper pulp bleaching, water treatment).
It is also used in the military industry (armor, helicopter, submarine), the biomedical sector, energy, automotive, construction, additive manufacturing, optics and sports (cycling, mountaineering, etc.).
Titanium analysis and expertise
The 6NAPSE Group carries out metallurgical analyzes and expertise on metal parts to ensure the quality and durability of your parts.
- Physico-chemical characterization of titanium
- Chemical composition analysis and grade checks of titanium alloys
- Elemental analysis and determination of the elements constituting titanium
- Analysis and characterization of surfaces (roughness, defects, …) on titanium materials
- Surface treatment analysis
- Heat treatment analysis
- Surface characterization and fracture facies study
- Material control and product conformity
Validation and corrosion testing
In our test centers, we also carry out premature aging tests on materials in order to analyze their change of state, their durability or their conformity. Also, we conduct environmental and mechanical validation tests:
- Environmental tests (temperature, susceptibility to fluids, light, etc.)
- Mechanical tests (fatigue, endurance, maneuver)
- Vibration tests (shock resistance in an assembly)
We are also able to carry out the expertise of a failure (breakage, rupture, appearance defect) as well as the identification of the origin of corrosion (rust) and corrosion resistance tests in condition salt fog.
