Corrosion testing – salt spray test
The 6NAPSE Group conducts salt spray corrosion tests. The laboratory checks the durability of the product in a saline atmosphere.
Products can be placed in an aggressive saline or corrosive atmosphere during their lifetime (seaside, industrial environment, polluted environment).
This environment can degrade the product and cause premature failure. It is therefore essential to detect these degradations and their time of appearance to guarantee the durability of the materials.
The salt spray test (or salt fog test) is a standardized and popular corrosion test method, used to check corrosion resistance of materials and surface coatings. Salt spray testing is an accelerated corrosion test that produces a corrosive attack to coated samples in order to evaluate (mostly comparatively) the suitability of the coating for use as a protective finish (source : wikipédia).
Corrosion testing
The 6NAPSE Group performs neutral salt (NSS) or acetic (AASS) fog tests in the laboratory. These tests are used to check the corrosion resistance of an assembly or sub-assembly in order to:
- Determine areas susceptible to corrosion
- Checking the effectiveness of a protective paint
- Qualify the choice of a surface treatment
- Compare the performance of parts from different suppliers
- Study the evolution of a corrosion phenomenon
The 6NAPSE Group has around 10 salt spray chambers (cycled or not). He carries out tests with neutral salt spray (NSS) or acetic spray (AASS) in the laboratory: studies of corrosion phenomena, sensitivity to oxidation in a corrosive atmosphere.

- Humidification (Temperature/Humidity)
- Dry air
- Rinsing
- Water spray
